British Superbike racing is in shock after Ollie Bridewell died in a Friday practise session at Mallory Park. He was just 21 years old.
The young Englishman fell heavily in wet conditions and struck the safety barriers, suffering fatal injuries.
Ollie was easily recognizable off the bike, as a tall lad with red hair and glasses. He was universally popular, and in the last race meeting at Oulton Park he took a pair of impressive top ten finishes on his Team NB Suzuki.
Once again, the sport has lost a young man in the prime of life. The only consolation is that he was living his dream as a motorcycle racer, and will be fondly remembered.
I extend my deepest sympathies to Ollie's family and friends.
