BSB: Adam Jenkinson Crocked at Thruxton

In all the confusion with Karl Harris's colossal crash at Thruxton leading to a re-start, one bit of bad news that slipped under the radar was that 23 year old Adam "Jenko" Jenkinson was also hurt in race 2. The youngster had amazed everyone with his performance in race 1, clinging on in 5th place on his year-old SMT Honda Fireblade until its engine let go.

Unfortunately it turns out that the youngster had a massive crash off-camera at the terrifying Church corner. This turn exits onto the final bendy straight leading up to the final chicane, and is taken at between 130 and 140mph. Obviously there is no such thing as a small crash at that kind of speed, and the worst of young Jenkinson's injuries is a badly broken wrist that will leave him out of action for at least 2 months.

Hopefully he can take comfort from the fact that in just a few laps of his Superbike debut in race 1, he made himself known as a real talent. I wish him all the best for a speedy recovery.

I agree, best of luck to him, I'm looking forward to seeing more of his talent later in the year.
